Oh, my, where to begin with this lovely Broadturn Farms wedding? I suppose the best place to start is three years ago. Three years ago we first met Eliza and Andrew when we photographed Andrew’s sister’s Lake Lure wedding. In fact, the first photo we took that day was Eliza walking into the bridal prep room. When Andrew and Eliza were first engaged, rumor has it that we were the first call they made after she said yes! (We might be exaggerating slightly to make a point, but work with us on this.) When Eliza described her vision for a rustic barn wedding off the coast of Maine, we couldn’t contain ourselves. We arrived a few days earlier and spent the time dodging rainstorms and eating fresh Maine lobster twice daily and visiting three different lighthouses north of Portland. On their wedding day, we couldn’t have asked for better weather and the August sunshine was plentiful and perfect. Instead of a ‘First Look’, Eliza and Andrew chose to have a private moment where they didn’t see each other but had a chance to talk to each other and hold hands before the craziness of the wedding day unfolded. Just as they were about to separate their hands, a stray parakeet that had befriended the farm owners flew right in front of Eliza and Andrew. Yeah, it was pretty awesome.

Speaking of awesome, the reception was off the hook with tunes provided by Shut Down Brown and I can honestly say that from the first song til the last, everyone was on their feet all night long. (Except for the spontaneous limbo competition, but that’s another story.

Our very best wishes to Eliza and Andrew for a lifetime of happiness and for inviting us to be part of their day. Anyone getting married in Maine?
